Below is a progression of my current painting. I like to do this once in a while to see the stages. It is very interesting to me and hope it provides some insight into how I work for you as well.

2010-04-20 I am still working up the under painting of the shirt.
On My Easel – April 19 – Egg Tempera
2010-04-19 I have begun work on the shirt. I am using india ink to model the folds. This is a critical stage because it establishes the dark and light relationships that will show through the egg tempera layer.

2010-04-15 I have refined the face to a point where I now feel comfortable moving on to the shirt. Once the shirt is blocked in I will come back to the face and refine it further.
